Every child deserves to feel safe. Every parent deserves support. And every family deserves the chance to thrive.
When a Family Changes, Children Need Support.
When seven-year-old *Yessenia’s parents separated, she struggled with feelings she couldn’t put into words. She became afraid to sleep alone, resisted going to school, and sometimes pulled her hair when she felt overwhelmed.
Through behavioral therapy at Safe & Sound, Yessenia learned to manage her big feelings and understand that her parents’ separation was not her fault. Her family also found support through Safe & Sound’s programs: Mom joined the Single Parent Network, Dad connected with the TALK Line, and the family enrolled in Kids Turn, a workshop that helps families adjust to separation. Together, her parents learned how to talk with Yessenia about the changes and navigate co-parenting. Over time, Yessenia stopped pulling her hair, became less clingy, and was willing to return to school. The journey continues, but she knows both her mom and dad love her. When families receive the right support, children can begin to feel safe, understood, and hopeful again.
Your Giving Tuesday gift can help more children and families find the support they need to move forward.
